    Default Spark's Carey SBS

Doug Stewart's variation, designed for PNW stillwaters. His was tied with pheasant tail wing and tail; I prefer pheasant rump fiber tail and a single feather for the wing, for increased durability.

    hook - Mustad 9671 #8
    thread - Danville 6/0 black
    tail - pheasant rump fibers
body - yarn hot red (green optional)
    hackle - partridge
    wing - pheasant rump

    Part 1

mash barb, start thread 1 eye width back from eye, wrap to bend

measure (shank length) a clump of pheasant rump fibers; tie in/trim

tie in yarn; wrap body, tie off/trim

tie in (folded) hackle (tips should reach hook point); wrap, tie off/trim

stroke fibers down/back, cover with thread

    Part 2

prep rump feather, measure (tips not quite to tail)

tie in (waxing the thread keeps the feather in place), trim, whip finish, SHHAN
