hackle - brown (undersize by 1)

mash barb, start thread; tie in rib, wrap to bend
clean, stack, measure (gap width past bend) a clump of elk hair; tie in with 2 loose wraps, apply gradual tension, allowing the hair to encircle the shank, then pull tight
wrap thread to eye, pull hair forward; tie down
tie in hackle, wrap to bend
capture tip with wire, rib thru body to eye; helicopter end, pull hair back and cover with thread wraps, trim hackle tip
