Default Water Levels in Lower Michigan

The mini-drought is over!!!! After nearly two months without rain, the water levels have finally risen to at or above normal levels. There was a time that Michigan was in danger of the major rivers were going to freeze completely if we didn't get some rain before cold weather set in. Happily, the month of October has been a very wet month, with above average rainfall. So, the fish will still be alive next spring, and ready to battle another year.

    Good to hear
What is the primary gamefish ?
Are their any spring creeks in the area?
    Invasive species ?
I remember reading of problems in great lakes
that may be influencing rivers in a negative way
like to hear if things are getting better ?

Hey Steve, Michigan has a lot of primary gamefish, depending on the location. Here where I live it smallmouth bass and northern pike. Further north, trout begin to take over most of the streams, however smallmouth are still plentiful (in fact, I have caught smallmouth in the Au Sable, probably THE pre-eminent trout stream in Michigan).

Hey Mike, Been wet here for most of the summer and all of the fall. Rivers should be in good shape! We have big freeze out problems on our NE brookie streams some years.
