A childhood spin-fishing buddy of mine moved to Arizona a while ago. After he moved we kept in touch and we both got into fly fishing. I am also starting to tie a few flies. I just found out that he is going to fish the Glen Canyon area near the dam sometime in august. I would like to try to tie up some flies that might(considering my ability)up his chances for landing some trout. As neither of us have fished the area befor I'm not sure what to tie.I did a search on google for the area but didn't come up with anything on fly patterns, but saw something about barbless hooks. If that law pertains to the area that he is fishing, can I use a regular hook with the barb mashed flat or does it have to be a truely barbless hook? Any ideas for drys, wets, nymphs, or whatever works there would be greatly appreciated.
