A poultry-free variation; feel free to modify at will. DHD - deer hair dubbing; stole the idea/tying sequence from Barry Ord Clarke's Wonderwing Caddis


hook - TMC 5212 #10
thread/body - UTC 70 grey brown
tail - deer hair
abdomen/thorax - deer hair dubbing
wing- deer hair


Part 1

mash barb, start thread at 2/3 mark, wrap to bend




clean, stack, measure (gap width) a clump of deer hair; tie in, cover butts with thread






create thread loop; cut off a clump of deer hair (don't comb out the underfur), scrunch, tear to length, insert in loop, spin










wrap to 2/3 mark; tie off/trim

clean, stack, measure (tips to tail) another clump of deer hair; trim to length, tie in






repeat dubbing loop sequence for thorax
