Here is my wooly worm. I tie it with the long hackle like this one or with a short grizzly hackle. With and with out bead head and or weighted.

This has been my most productive as it sits and breaths with the minor water currents or a slight jiggle of the rod tip. un-weighted it will sink very slowly. This is a #10 The red butt is red buck tail trimmed very short. This replicates a worm I saw several years ago that didn't last long when it fell into the water that I was watching.
