    Default More Warmwater Leaders

Occasionally, I will in an attempt to rationalize this stuff we call fly fishing, appear to apply common sense. Not too often mind you, or it may begin to become "expected". And that's simply a fools errand when associated with our beloved piscatorial pursuit.

That being said, I have admittedly departed from the social norms surrounding what we refer to as leaders and tippets. Partly because it's just too damned easy. But mostly because it just plain old works. Lets call it......

    "The Stren Connection"

Having fished twisted leaders for some time now (with several posts relating to them), This winter and since has found me solidly in the camp of a particular leader for ALL of my warm water fishing, and most of my cold water nymphing.

Hi Ralph, I tie all of my nymph leaders from Stren mono I keep in my freezer to keep it fresh. I agree, it's too easy yo make your own. I keep some knotless leaders when I run into a lot of that green moss or weeds on a stream bed.

You are right, a knotless is your friend in real dirty water.

If when twisting your leader, you put a drop of super glue rather that a surgeons knot on the last twist, and then cover the glue spot with black thread by swinging your bobbin around it about 15 or 20 times, you eliminate the knot. Cover the wraps with super glue again. Works and is secure.

I can see that working, I have done similar in other applications. Never had any issues with the DS knot.
