A pattern from Nevada tyer Robert Broughton. The unusual orientation of the feather is supposed to represent an injured hopper with it's wings laying out to the side.

thread - Danville 6/0 yellow
tail/body - Congo Hair pale yellow
rib - Mirage Flash opal
wing - woodduck flank (any well-marked waterfowl would work)
hackle - grizzly/ginger

Part 1

mash barb, start thread at 3/4 mark; tie in rib, wrap to bend




create a loop in a hank of CH; tie in, wrap tag end to 3/4 mark






wrap body to 3/4 mark; tie off/trim




counterwrap rib; tie off/trim




prep feather; invert fly, measure (tips to end of loop), tie in, trim
