Wally Wing Paradun SBS

A bit easier to execute than the Winger Parachute; the stem of the mallard flank (or whatever winging material you prefer) provides a stable base for the hackle and wing torque is eliminated. Tied here as a Callibaetis; change color/size to suit your needs.


hook ? Dai Riki 320 #14
thread - MFC 8/0 sand
tail ? grizzly hackle
abdomen ? turkey biot callibaetis
hackle - grizzly
thorax - dubbing hare's ear
wing - mallard flank

Part 1

mash barb, start thread at 3/4 mark




prep mallard flank; run it thru the handy-dandy Wally Wing folding machine (patent pending)










measure (hook length - trust me, shank length leaves the wing too short); tie in at 3/4 mark, trim butts/cover with thread






strip off some hackle fibers, even tips, measure (shank), tie in/trim

Part 2

tie in (moistened) biot, notch side down for ribbed effect; wrap to base of wing, tie off/trim






lift wing, set angle with thread wraps in front, then post






tie in hackle, shiny side out




dub thread/dub thorax; finish at base of wing






wrap hackle down post; capture tip with thread wrap at base, trim, half hitch x 2 at base, SHHAN






separate lowest fibers on tip of mallard
