Found this on a carp site, although supposedly a Traveling Sedge pattern from the 70's. Another take on the cross-wrapped deer hair body style, similar to a number of Michigan patterns (see Johnson Mimic May), this one has the front end of the Harrop Hair Wing Dun
hook - Mustad 94840 #8
thread - UTC 140 black
tail/body - deer hair
rib - tying thread
hackle - grizzly
wing - deer hair
Part 1
mash barb, start thread at 3/4 mark; wrap to bend and back
clean, stack, measure (tips a gap width past bend) a clump of deer hair; tie in with 2 soft loops, slowly tighten, allowing the deer hair to encircle the shank
gather fibers to the rear, spiral wrap down the body to point above barb (with flossy thread like UTC, it's a good idea to spin the bobbin before ribbing the body); cross-wrap forward, returning to tie-in
tie in hackle; wrap, tie off/trim
