A soft hackle(stacker). Kind of a head-scratcher; wish I could ask Mr. Quigley what the idea was here. He tied some very effective patterns so there had to be a reason. An interesting pattern to tie; notional tying sequence.

thread - Danville 6/0 rusty browm
tail - hen
rib - small wire gold
body ? tying thread
loop ? Danville Flymaster Plus rusty brown
thorax ? peacock herl
hackle ? hen
bead ? 3mm gold


Part 1

mash barb, slide bead on hook; jam some non-tox inside (leave some room in front to tie down the hackle)




start thread; tie in rib, wrap halfway down the bend




measure (gap width) some hen fibers; tie in/trim, tie in loop, wrap to bead






counterwrap rib; helicopter end, cover with thread, brush with Sally




tie in hackle




tie in peacock




wrap peacock, tie off/trim, half hitch x 2, trim thread




re-start thread in front of bead, hook loop onto gallows
