First Channel Catfish of the year

I was flyfishing for bass with a #2 mostly-black Zonker. This 28" Cat hit like a freight train! Great fight!
A conversion table I found suggests a weight of 10.6 lbs.

Very nice sized cat fish. I agree with you in that they can hit very hard and they are bulldogs in the fight, never giving up. Fun to catch and pretty good eating if you keep a few.

We've now had about 5 consecutive days of rain and about 6 days of high temps in the mid- to low 40's F. I think Ma Nature just hit the "reset" button on the progress of the Spring spawning. Might take another week or two to get us back to the water temps we had.
