hat eyes magnifiers

I use the clip on hat eyes magnifiers for tying knots on the stream. Eventually they will wear enough to not stay flipped up out of the way when not in use. What i found was that putting a drop of super glue on the hinge and flipping the magnifier back and forth until the super glue is dry will tighten up the hinge enough to make them as good as new. It is kind of a red neck solution but it works

I wear variable lens eyeglasses. Can anyone share their experiences with using hat magnifiers while wearing their variable lens eyeglasses on the stream?
