Andy's got it right about practice. I just tied 250 flies for an ad agency here in town, each having a 4 section married wing, sort of similar to the Parmachene Belle but with one more section. Even though tying these was somewhat torturous, and took me forever, I can now set a married wing on a fly just the way I want to. I can make it lay level, cock it up, you name it. You just can't beat tying a lot of flies. Don Bastian is still figuring things out after the thousands he's tied over the years. That says it all.

LOL - Don, I guess I have to add more smilies to my response to you. I was merely pulling your leg on the floss-pliers. My poker face must have fooled ya...

    Here are the extra

    Cheers,

Hans: from one of your friends in a low place. Where the whiskey drowns and the beer chases...

I can sometimes be considered "gullible." But I can usually figure out (eventually)when someone is trying to feed me a line of bovine scatology. <G> !

Another thing on buying my DVD,Tying Classic Wet Flies:

Some of the guys were passing round the info to buy my DVD from Amazon.com.

It is available there, but it comes through FishUSA.com where my friend and sometime fishing partner, Eric Lyle works. (Amazon.com does NOT buy from me).

When someone buys my DVD at Amazon.com, FishUSA has to pay them a 15% commission.

I suggest: Cut out the middle man, in this case a big, impersonal, global conglomerate, and pass the full measure of profit directly to a company that is locally owned, and founded right here in my home state of Pennsylvania.

Also available from me personally, and the only way to get a signed copy.

Thanks to everyone for so much support and all your kind words and compliments.

    Don

Andy, i know this has nothing to do with your post and i apologize for that. I was just wondering if you are still participating in the quill body swap. I know flytier is really trying hard to contact you, so i figured this is the best way to do it. If you are, can you just let him know. I believe he e-mailed you as well
