questions about a fly pattern

I found this on line and can find no link on how to tie. Looks like a nice fly! From the picture it looks to me that the wing is Deer hair, tied in several clumps. the clumps seem to be then wrapped with the body material between the hair clumps. I would appreciate some help on the materials and how this fly is constructed. Thanks Pat

Yes, it's a stonefly. A "sunken" stonefly, specialty of Blue Ribbon Flies. Looks pretty simple to tie, at least straightforward as you figured it out. Maybe BRF has tying instructions somewhere.

Looks like a Hedgehog fly.

As Bruce noted, it's a Hedgehog. Globrite floss tail, dubbed body and deer hair wing, hi-tied in sections (like a Nelson's Caddis or Mikulak Sedge). Bruce's last link is a nice one; fun flies to tie, keep them sparse.

Thanks guys, a hedgehog it is! Should have known that Scott had already tied one for faol. I like the fire orange body on the pic I posted.

I saw no misstep. I would be surprised If Blue Ribbon flies didn't tie something using the same methods. Thanks for your input.

BRF does have a fly just like that one. As herefishy said, it is Nick's Sunken Stone. Pretty simple but very effective.

Thanks Joe. Herefishy, you were right! Davie Mcphail has an interesting method of tying the hedge hog also
