A Michigan pattern from the 40's, probably the creation of Bob Jewel. Meant to be fished as a dry or a streamer, the materials definitely lean towards the latter.


hook - Dai Riki 700 #4
thread - UTC 140 black
tail - poly yarn red (original called for wool; this was my one concession to something with positive buoyancy)
rib - large tinsel silver
body - chenille black
wing - bottom 1/3 bucktail white; top 2/3 bucktail brown
hackle - brown heavy (a study in optimism or futility)

Part 1

mash barb, start thread, tie in poly yarn, wrap to bend; trim (gap width)






tie in rib




strip end of chenille, tie in






wrap chenille to 3/4 mark; tie off/trim




rib body; tie off/trim




even tips on white bucktail, measure (a bit past the tail); tie in/trim
