Default HMH Finally going offset rotary

Sneak peek at the new HMH offset rotary vise. Interesting, the jaws harken to Lawrence Waldron's "LAW" bench vise jaws. I owned an HMH at one time and migrated to offset rotary vises. I think this move will certainly help HMH stay in the business.

I believe this post to be true, but have not verified it. The photo and comment appeared on my Facebook account this morning......

    Byron,

I've heard the same thing from a couple fishing buddies who are in the industry. I've owned an HMH Spartan for 16 years, it's the only vise I have ever owned - might be time for an update.

I saw one at the Marlborough, MA show. Interesting looking vise. BUT I have 2 Renzetti Travelers and a Master. Plus the HMH Spartan I bought as my first vise. I need more hands.... and money!

    Mike,

Are you going to be at the NH Fly Fishing show on February 25th?

    IMG_3141.jpgH Everyone,

Yes its true, I was at the Somerset show and was able to talk to Jon the owner of HMH. The vise is still a prototype but its absolutely coming to market, the jaws were not yet hardened. Also the wheel that opens and closes the jaws will be slightly different and the rotational knob will have a hole machined in so you can put a handle. Interesting that Jon is going to see if he can avoid the hook pockets that are on the LAW jaws. I would say the vise jaws are heavily influenced by the LAW but the rest of it is definitely HMH. Here is another picture of the vise I took at the show.

I did limit my mention of the similarity with the LAW to the jaws, I believe.

Yes you did. Have you seen the pro-vice by virtual nymph. They decided to do a full blown copy.

    Yes I have

I owned one of Waldron's LAW bench vises

    A true work of art

I must say, however, that I prefer an offset rotary vise which allows the hook axis to be maintained regardless of the size of the hook.

Have not seen anything on price, but I would guess no less than DynaKing's top of the line model....so I would guess 500+????
