I am bringing up a pretty basic issue in fly fishing, but I don't think I have ever seen it discussed anywhere.

It has been my observation, all along, that duns in their natural float, tend to float "head downstream". Now, I say "tend" because there are currents and micro currents which adjust the insects float before the wings are able to allow it to fly off.

The reason I bring this up is that, if correct, it is why I tend to fish to rising fish from above with a downstream cast or, at a minimum, using an across and down method to ensure that the fly floats "wing first" into the trout's window.

Agree??
