I asked four people to go with me. It was a last minute thing so everyone had plans. I did talk my good friend Kevin Rott into following me to my ending spot where I parked and he taxied to my starting point.

It was the warmest day of the year so far *73*. It was mostly cloudy. The water temp was 60. I expected a good outing and wasn't disappointed.

    Trip Report Vernon County

Hit the water with Andy Nezworski at 9am. Was cloudy when we started and then got sunny in a hurry. We fished head waters due to recent rain. By 10:30 there were scads of hatches coming off. Blue Wing Olives/Gnats/Caddis were all over the place and little trout were working the surface. Andy tried dries with no luck.

Spooked a lot of fish in the gin clear water.

Our luck changed just before we stopped.

Andy out fished me. My knees were angry so I stopped. I deposited Andy downstream and am expecting a report later tonight.

Went to visit my mother today and caught a few along the way at two locations that I did a hit and run at each. All browns...around 20 to hand.

Two photo worthy.....they have some sweet coloring

    4 Net Morning

Went out for 2 hours this morning. It looked like rain in the forecast and I looked at my favorite water and it was a little dirty. Thought I better get out there before it was too dirty to fish.

    Second cast

Put my LDH Net to good use.

    5 minutes later.

    Used my LDH Net again

    Used my LDH Net again

was happy to use my net again.

At full arm stretch I could not get entire trout in photo.

Not a great numbers day but made it up with size.

Thought it was time to go home.

Hit the water at 8am this morning. The clouds in the forecast never materialized.

Most trout were under 12 inches today. Three topped 15 inches and one wayward brookie was caught. 36 to hand in 3.5 hours. Not bad for a robin's egg blue moring.

Water clarity almost crystal clear. Water temp was 64.

On the second to last hole of the morning I scored my largest chub ever.

I guess it is sorta a trifecta.

    Wacky Conditions

I thought with the impending eclipse it might turn on the trout.

I wandered to Crawford County to an easy walking stretch.

I introduced myself to the new land owners.

Fished for 2 hours and landed 13 browns and 3 brookies. "No Gill Lice"

Would have done better if the new land owner's dog Princess would not have swam in every hole before I fished it. She liked me and the smell of my Buggins bug spray. Every time I sat she sat right along side of me. The owners said she was only a puppy and is a papered Great Pyrenees and will get much bigger. I hope she remembers me.

Did have a solid fish on right at shore and worried about the dog trying to bite the fish. I let the fish long line release so there would be no dog hook ups.

    Trip Report "Wisconsin Special"

I have been riding the pines for a while. The recliner seems to be growing to my behind. Yes my back is hurting but I decided to quit whining and get out there for an hour tonight.

Had three decent ones shake off before I could land them. I landed seven browns.

The below female brown was my last to hand. I smiled as I knelt to net her. I leaned forward and put a hand down. I could not have done it better if I had planned it. I thought about taking a photo of my hand placement.

I placed my support hand down right in the middle of a fresh cow pie. I actually laughed audibly as I looked at my hand. If someone would have been with me they would have thought I lost my mind. I was momentarily distracted. I netted the trout. I rinsed off my hand and took one photo.

I gimped back to my vehicle with a huge smile. Ain't life grand?
