Default Zug Bug (Heron variation) SBS

It always killed me to clip the flank feather for the wingpad, so I let it go long here.

    hook - Mustad 9671 #6
    thread - Danville 6/0 brown(s)
    underbody - non-tox .030
    tail - peacock sword
    rib - oval tinsel silver
    body - peacock herl
    wing - woodduck flank
    hackle - hen brown

    Part 1

    wrap front 1/3 with non-tox

start thread, tie in rib, wrap to bend

measure (gap width past bend) some peacock sword fibers; tie in/trim

tie in some peacock herl by the tips, wrap to 3/4 mark; tie off/trim

    counterwrap rib; tie off/trim

    Default

    Part 2

prep woodduck flank (drag scissor blade over top half to get them to lay properly); tie in by tip

    wrap, tie off/trim

prep hen hackle; realize the thread's the wrong color (was going to use a darker India hen but didn't like the effect), switch thread and tie in hackle by tip (do the scissor blade thing to the top half, again)

wrap hackle, tie off/trim; whip finish, SHHAN

    Regards,
    Scott
