Default Satoshi's Coyoted Pheasant Softhackle SBS

Neat variation on Jack Gartside's Sparrow, for those spawners coming up from Hebgen Lake. Name came from a pheasant that came out on the wrong end of an encounter with a coyote.

    hook - Dai Riki 280 #8
thread - UTC 140 burnt orange
    rib - small wire copper
    undertail - Congo Hair tan
    tail - pheasant tail
    abdomen - dubbing rusty orange
    underwing/shroud - Congo Hair tan
    thorax/head - pheasant aftershaft
    hackle - pheasant rump

    Part 1

mash barb, start thread; tie in rib, wrap to point above point

measure (tips to bend) a clump of CH; tie in/wrap to 2/3 mark

measure (hook length) some PT fibers; tie in/trim butts

    dub thread/dub abdomen

counterwrap rib; helicopter end, cover with thread

    Part 2

pull CH back surrounding body; tie down/trim

moisten fingers and stroke fibers back; take a few wraps

tie in (folded) hackle by tip; wrap forward, stroking fibers back, tie off/trim

Another gorgeous tie that is going in my "to do" pile for after I get the tying area setup. I love Gartside patterns, the Sparrow is a mainstay in my fly box. I like this variation.
