This one started out as an October Caddis, inspired by Bill Bakke's steelhead pattern, but quickly morphed into a salmon fly. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait 8 months to see if it works.

thread - UTC 140 black
core - 20lb mono
tail - fox squirrel tail
abdomen - 1 mm foam orange
hackle - saddle brown
wing - fox squirrel tail


Part 1

mash barb, start thread




put a loop in one one of the mono, brush on a little Super Glue and tie in






clean, stack, measure (about 1.5 hook length using the scud hook) a clump of squirrel tail; tie in/trim butts








divide and post wing
