Today, September 1, 2016, portions of the Yellowstone River were reopened to recreational use, including fishing. Portions of the river remain closed but most of the tributaries, including the famous spring creeks in Paradise Valley have reopened for fishing. The recent fish kill involved mostly Rocky Mountain Whitefish and the bulk of the die-off occurred in a portion of the river that is south of Livingston, Montana. If your plans call for a fall trip to Montana to fish in this area check with the local fly shops for further information.
