Here is a Lanyard solution I put together for roving small waters and using in the float tube. I wanted something off my chest and neck in the tubes and a setup that could be carried or swapped out for more than one application. The result was $3.00, plus an hour of effort. I use it clipped to the D-ring on my tubes, and either through my belt or clipped to a belt loop with a small snaplink. I swap out the knife for a small compartment box when the situation dictates.

20' of continuous, uncut or spliced cord.

It has proven to be functional.
