I don't frequent pawn shops particularly often. When I have, living in South Dakota, I rarely find any fly fishing items. However, a few days ago, I stopped into a relatively new pawn shop for the first time. In addition to the item pictured below, they also had a Powell 6 wt., a Powell 10 wt., a Winston 3 wt. and a Croft & Sons bamboo (appeared refinished to me). 5 fly rods in a South Dakota pawn shop at one time!! That's more that the total of ALL fly rods I ever seen in pawn shops here, COMBINED!!
Anyway, I pulled the trigger on the Sage SPL Center Axis 0 wt. pictured here. Looks virtually unused. Don't really know that I needed a 0 wt. but think I got a pretty good deal. When being manufactured, it seems these retailed in the $800 range. They haven't been made in quite some time. A fishing partner has the same rod in a 2 wt. He likes it quite well.
Oh, by the way, I paid $180. So, did I get a good deal? Anyone ever fished one?
