Did you fish many caddis pupa patterns Byron? You had posted that link to the galloup caddis pupa, curious if you had any luck on them?
Good question. To be honest, I feel sorta silly. I tie all year, and tie for months before going to the Fork and the Madison. I tie all manner of patterns. When the Flavs/Drakes were on the water, a simple Comparadun style Small and regular Western Green Drake pattern worked so well, I left all the other patterns in my box. When the Caddis were on the water, we had such good luck with that UV/shuck X-Caddis, again, I tried nothing else.
I did come across an interesting Caddis pattern though. It is a tie from the owner of Beartooth Fly Shop on the Madison not far from Cameron. Trying to locate one to photo and post. Truth be told, the fly caught me and, again, never tried it.
I could have gone there with just two patterns!!
I did discuss my use of UV dub over the Caddis shuck with Galloup. He said "yea, that's what I do" and then proceeded to show me his same tie. I videoed him tying his and want to post here, but not sure how as it is about 3-4 minutes long. Maybe I can figure out how to get it on YouTube and then post a link. He ties his as an "improved" version with Selina and the UV pearl dub as an underwing

Everyone who visits the area should stop in at the Beartooth Fly Shop. It is in the middle of nowhere on the west side of Hwy 287 (2925 US-287, Cameron, MT 59720) between Cameron to the north and the Sun Ranch and Sun West to the south.

....works perfectly, thanks Byron.
Yep worked good thanks for posting. That trip looked like a blast. hopefully I'll be able to plan a trip out west sometime in the next few years, although I can't really complain about the fishing in PA!
