Took my kayak out this afternoon. I wasn't fly-fishing, but....

I had to thread my way through an emergent weedbed to get to where I wanted to fish. I saw what, at first, appeared to be lots of spiderwebs coating the weeds that were sticking out of the water. As I got closer, and finally amongst all the weeds, I realized they weren't spiderwebs, but nymph shucks. I took a closer look, and realized they were Damselfly nymphs. Unfortunately, this spot is so shallow that the 'gills aren't in there yet. But, with knowledge that a hatch is underway, I switched over from bait to jigs tied to look like bugs and had a good day.
