Tied here as a hydropsyche; change color/size to fit your needs. On anything smaller than a #16 I'd use 1mm foam for the shellback and indicator. Indicator is optional, but for those late evening hatches, much appreciated.

hook - Dai Riki 135 #16
thread - UTC 140 tan
rib - Krystal Flash pearl
abdomen - Zelon dubbing hydropsyche tan
shellback - 2mm foam tan
wing - deer hair
thorax - CDC tan
indicator - 2mm foam orange

Part 1

mash barb, start thread; tie in rib, wrap halfway down the bend




dub thread/dub abdomen to point above point






rib abdomen; tie off/trim






tie in foam strip (1/2 gap wide)




clean, stack, measure (shank) a clump of deer hair; tie in/trim butts
