A buddy and I headed out to Lake Manatee today to fly fish on a windy day. I picked a new launch near the bridge at Verna-Bethany Road. Figured we could paddle up the river if it got too windy. Near our launch site, I caught three nice bass and a few big bluegill on poppers before the wind picked up. We headed up the river and did fair. We caught some big bluegill, a large stumpknocker and a shiner -- mostly on nymphs.
Not a bad day, considering the wind.
