    Default Cabela's hooks

Looking for comments on Cabela's private brand hooks. Their prices seem good.

I have used some of their hooks - the curved scud hook mostly - and have been happy with them. In larger quantities, some of the Mustad hooks are a better price.

Like um! They're a pretty good hook for the price. 8T

Their regular dry fly hooks, 14 and 16, straighten out on fish where TMCs do not. I will not buy those again. I even had them bending while the fly was in the vise.

I have never used the dry fly hooks , but their scud and curved nymph hooks are great.

It's been awhile since I bought any but when I did they came with Daiichi numbers on them...conclusion=they are made by Daiichi.

I bought a bunch of thier dry, 2XL, 3XL hooks years ago and they were junk. Hooks bent far to easy, some had blunt hook points, they broke at the heel while fishing and worst of all those blunt hook points did not hook fish very well. Now this was years ago and maybe they have improved thier hooks by now but I will never buy Cabela's brand hooks again. Mustad's standard hooks are much cheaper and are superior to the Cabela's hooks I bought. But like I said they may have improved them by now. You can always buy a single pack of them to see what the quality is like and then decide wether to buy more or send them back. Later, Jim

I have used both the dry and scud hooks and I have been happy with them.
