Default Highly controversia and a bit OT but..., proceed with caution.............

Once upon a time , a few years ago, the subject of SPAM ( the canned delicacy) was mentioned . The response both pro and con filled almost 5 pages herein. I happen to like the stuff, and a fried SPAM, lettuce and tomato sammy on toast with HELLMANS mayo is my fave.
Year have passed, we got a bit older/wiser and there's been a turnover of members here. I'm going to assume that a new poll would demonstrate we're getting wiser and SPAM is "the bomb".

My buddy used to bread it and then deep fry it. Yum!

A "like" for your spam sandwich recipe Marco. The only change I'd make is Miracle Whip (lite) instead of the mayo. was a staple in my house as a kid, that and oscar meyer's braunschweiger in a tube.

On a cookie sheet-sliced Spam, Brown sugar and pineapple
350 oven for 20-30 minutes. At the time thought it was pretty good.
Use to have it at least once a week way, way, way, back when, when we were poor.
Haven't eaten it again for at least 50 years. Did what we had to do back then.

I've heard its pretty good BB'Q. Never tried it but dang near everything is pretty good BB'Q.

I think it's Hawaii where spam is considered darn near a delicacy.

Spam is another product like the McD's chicken fingers, it's good, but why not just go get a good piece of ham or chicken instead of eating the scraps pressed together with gelatin? I like the taste, but not as much as I do ham. My granddad thought if you didn't have a ham in the frig you were on the verge of starvation, it probably shortened his life, along with the Pall Mall, he didn't quite make it to 91.

Since he Is no longer active here, I want to remind people of what Donald Nicolson said, using my own words. His boyhood included WW2 and cans Spam from the US were a prized source of meat. He stated that he did not care for jokes about Spam and that he would always be fond of that canned meat product.

Considering out current enemies, spam may be a powerful weapon in the future, used in a different manner. My dad came back from the Army following WWII with a couple of things he didn't care for, mostly roast chicken and eggs (he saw too many cooked not in prime condition and powdered eggs) but I think he like spam okay.
