    Default Gunna do it!

After nearly 4 years of no rod building (not to mention almost 2 years of no fly tying), I'm going to build up a couple glass rods! At least I'm going to give it the old college try. They're a vintage Diamond glass, and a beautiful blue in color. 7'6" 4 wt. Wish me, and my shaky hands, luck!

OK ... got all the parts! Nifty guides. Jade stripper guide. Threads. Gorgeous reel seat. Cigar, 6" cork. All sitting there looking at me every time I enter the room. So why am I so nervous about starting it???? Somebody give me a good kick in the tuchus!!

Sending tuchus kick! I felt the same way with my last build, then put the stripping guides on backwards, then sold all the rodbuilding stuff. Haven't regretted it yet, but might. Hope the enthusiasm comes back for you.

How funny! My enthusiasm has always been there, but due to medical issues, the ability hasn't. Now that those "issues" are hopefully under control, I'm afraid! It's like the first time all over again!
Thank you for the kick! That may be all that is needed. Love this FAOL family.

If the knowledge and experience are still there it won't take long for the hands to re-learn their part. You know that the most important part of doing good work is in your head. If you've forgotten something you can still get answers here. I expect the best first rod ever posted here from you!

Which kind did you get? I got some single part "rod dancer" that I was looking forward to using, but never got around to it. Sure would be convenient.
