Not sure who originated this fly; interesting mod of the CDC & Elk. A great way to put some of that lower quality CDC to work; the good stuff will yield a prettier fly. You can easily adjust the density of the CDC with the pinch method.

hook - Mustad 94840 #12
thread - Danville 6/0 tan
tail - deer hair
body - CDC tan
wing(s) - deer hair


Part 1

mash barb, start thread, wrap to bend




clean, measure (gap width past bend) a sparse clump of deer hair; tie in/trim






split thread (dubbing loop would work fine, too)




capture tips of CDC fibers in clip, trim off quill, insert clip in loop, trap fiber butts in loop, spin to create home made Henry's fork Hackle










stroke fibers back and wrap first body section
