    Default Is hen hackle sized?

Does hen hackle come in various sizes like dry fly hackle does? For tying small woolly worms, for example.

no it does not. That does not mean that you yourself can not size it because a person can. But it is not sold in sizes that I have eveer seen? For Buggers I like to use webby saddle hackles from the butts of Whiting saddles. They are soft and give the fly a lot of action. Ron

That's why it is better and cheaper in the long run to by a skin. If you buy one of the Conranch skins you get a very large range of sizes, although I like the Whitings as well.

Hen necks are very inexpensive. You then choose a feather to fit your fly. On wet flies, for instance, you choose one where the hackel barbs extend from the tie in point back to the barb of the hook. This can and does vary somewhat and is more a rule of thumb.
