Thread: vices: Peak vs. Renzetti

    Default vices: Peak vs. Renzetti

a friend has offered to sell me a barely used Renzetti Traveller vice, plus the cam midge jaws, pedastel and c-clamp. n Before this I was all set to purchase the Peak vise. Does anyone who has seen both have any opinions to offer? The price is the same. I have always thoght that the Renzetti might be too small, but I haven;t actually been able to see the peak vise in person so it may be athe same size for all I know.

    Thanx

My choice would be the Peak.

    Now what?

    Cheers,

    Soup,

I'm not familiar with the Peak but I am with the Renzetti. My choice is same as Hans'.
By the way, are they the same price?

I have the Peak and I am very satisfied, I have one of the earlier models from before it was modified, I believe for patent reasons.
So I agree with Hans. It is interesting that Allan(tyeflies), who is familiar with the Renzetti also agrees with Hans in favour of the Peak.

any of you care to say why you like the one you like? Peak is on my radar, too.

    I've got them both.
I'm currently using the peak primarily and love the easy access cam jaws. it is solidly built and very functional.

the renzetti remains more comfortable, but that's probably the result of years and years of tying thousands of flies on it.

personally I prefer a c-clamp to a pedestal and the peak stem fits the renzetti clamp.

basically yer looking at a win/win situation no matter what you choose.

I don't suppose you could test drive them both to see which is a better fit?

I have not used the Peak, but on my Renzetti Traveler I tie small trout flies and larger saltwater flies with the same jaws. It's the right vise for me.

    Soup,

Tell your friend I'll buy the Renzetti if you don't!
