    Default Kaufmann's Timberline Emerger SBS

An early Randall Kaufmann high country stillwater pattern. Tail can also be tied with marabou (barred makes a neat effect) or aftershaft feathers.

    hook - Dai Riki 060 #12
    thread - MFC 8/0 sand
    rib - small copper wire
    tail - moose body hair
    abdomen - muskrat/Zelon dubbing hydropsyche
    hackle - hen brown
    wings - hen grizzly tips

    Part 1

mash barb, tie in rib, wrap to bend

clean, stack, measure (gap width past bend) a few moose body hairs; tie in/trim

dub thread/dub tapered body to 1 eye width back from eye

counterwrap rib; helicopter end, cover with thread

tie in (folded) hackle by tip

    Hi Scott,

The Timberline Emerger was my favorite pattern - it ticked my boxes - when I read through that Kaufmann book so many moons ago now. Thanks for the memory revival

    Cheers,
