The 2 different kinds of Marabou - thin and straight or fuzzy? Is either the preferred look for nymph/streamer tails?

I like blood marabou for tails on nymphs and streamers; provides nice, even tips. If I want a bit more bulk, I double up. Just my $.02.

Just the opposite from ScottP, I generally prefer the thicker "fuzzy" marabou for tails because it takes less material to bulk up, and it moves better in the water, in my opinion. However, I do use both bloods and plumes for different application so it depends on the effect I'm trying to accomplish (e.g. bloods are good for collars or palmered bodies, whereas plumes are favored for shucks and bugger tails).
I prefer to sort through a string of blood quill marabou and find the feathers with a good amount of fuzz all the way to the tips. That way I get even tips without the stringy look. Unfortunately there usually aren't many of these feathers.
Use both as I find on days the fish want thicker or thinner tails.
