I was able to get a copy of La Fontaine's book "Caddis Flies." He says the sparkle yarn used to encase the body represents the translucent case prior to it emerging to adult.

My question:

1.) If the sparkle yarn fibers represent the translucent sheath wouldn't clear antron suffice? It seems they are tied with different colors.

2.) If colored yarn is necessary for the sheath, should the colors of the sheath match the colors of the body of the fly?

Just trying to generate a discussion and figure this thing out.

Thanks
