    Default Terasaki Pooldozer SBS




    hook - Dai Riki 899 #6
    thread - Flymaster Plus black
    tail - mule deer hair
    body - caribou
    collar - deer hair rust
    lip - 2mm foam white


    Part 1

    mash barb, start thread; clean, stack, measure (gap width past bend) a clump of deer hair; tie in/trim, cover with tape










    clean a clump of caribou, 2 soft loops, spin, pack; repeat as needed (leave some space up front for the collar), tie off/trim








    rough cut (needed to taper it a bit more)




    this one will be full-figured

    Part 2

    taper a piece of foam; re-start thread, tie in/trim






    clean, stack, measure (tips to hook point) a clump of deer, tips facing forward




    2 soft loops, spin, leave butts untrimmed




    sweep tips back, cover with thread




    whip, SHHAN, thin out collar a bit

    Darn good looking tie, Scott. I do not see that foam lip lasting very long, however. Might work better doubled over or maybe with 4mm foam instead. Never seen this pattern before, but a very good looking skater.

    John,

    Thanks. Agree on the lip - I was afraid that doubling it over would make the tying area too thick to spin the collar, but I've decided to re-try that part with deer hair in a dubbing loop so it really won't matter. Should also make it look a bit buggier; back to the vise.
