Boy Yaffle those wings look great! One thing that I have always felt about upright wings, both wood duck and mallard quills, is what Loren said. The less you handle them the better. Some books show you doing figure 8s ad infinitum, x wraps, what have you, which makes for more wing handling than you need. I hold the near wing in place, put one wrap in front of it diagonally between the wings, come underneath the hook toward me, hold the far wing in place and do one wrap in front of it between the wings. That's all you need. Then you can use the hackle to further stabalize them. Works for me.
