One of my top 5 Flies
Of all the flies I have used over the last 40 years or so, the X-Caddis is among the top 5 producers for me.
We all tie this pattern a little differently, but this is is how I tie it.

Anyway, a really effective pattern in catching trout.
Totally agree with you, Byron. It just seems to draw trout, hatch or no hatch.

Assuming we are talking about trout at the moment. These would be my top 5.
LTD
EHC Lite (Ginger)
C2C Nymph
Squirrels Nest Nymph
Golden Retriever
If I had to pick 5 patterns to fish anywhere with...These would fill my box. While not my 5 favorite flies on a given water, I know that between the 5 of them, at least ONE will not let me down pretty much anywhere as long as I do my part.
