    Default CDC Caddis

I tied a couple of EHC last night but used CDC instead of deer hair. They look good and with some frogs fanny float good. Does anybody tried this before and how do they fish? I fish in pressured waters and sometimes just small changes will increase your bite percentage.

    Steve,

It's not new. You've stumbled across a very good fly independently.

One of the things you can do is leave some stem hanging in front of the eye. Then criss cross dubbing to separate them at right angles to the hook. The stems will act as stabilizers.

I use this pattern for the grannom hatch and even cut up some CDC to use as dubbing for the body.

Have you seen the CDC & Elk tied by Hans?

Regarding the use of CDC in pressured waters. It never hurts to make variations to an original pattern. Even discrete color changes, or differences in dubbing can lead to very good results.
