That's my experience too, Ray. I'll go back a lot of years. I once bought a Henry Hoffman grizz neck back in the early 80's. Now, I know that subsequent strains kept getting better, but that was one disappointing neck. And I bought it because the word was that Hoffman had the best grizzly ever. Today? Well today's dry fly feathers are, as you indicate, are exceptional. But I agree that the barbs tend to be a tad softer than other colors. The larger feathers that I would pluck to get tailing fibers are really soft. But the current grizzlies still tie up a heck of an Adams!
