Thread: Meow!

  1. #1

    Default Meow!

The recent rains in my area have raised the water levels in the local ponds, and the catfish are loving it! Flyfished during lunch today, saw several catfish gulp something at the surface. I chucked the microjig/indicator rig I was using for sunfish out beyond the weedline. The indictor dropped within seconds, and my line was slicing through the water even before I could set the hook. Not a giant, but ...what a fattie!

That is big enough for some serious fun on the fly rod. Ideal 3 weight fun.

I'm guessing that cat fish is either pre-spawn or as Okflyfisher said just a pig. Very nice fish! They can be real bulldogs on a flyrod and a loads of fun to catch. Congratulations.

Caught another one yesterday. A bit shorter, but this one also had a HUGE belly on it.

Yeah, they definitely have not spawned yet. They seem to be feeding a LOT right now, too, due to the heavy rains.
