I have a float tube and a Hobie Outback kayak and I have fished out of a canoe. The Hobie Outback is the best fishing craft I have ever used, period. It uses a peddle system that moves fins under the boat so I have my hands free for fishing. I can cover a lot of water very easily and quickly and it is very quiet. I've actually eased up on sleeping turtles and ducks and got close enough to touch them without disturbing them. It's very stable and steering is accomplished with a single finger that controls the rudder. I've been using it for the past 12 years and I can't imagine ever going back to any other personal fishing craft. If you get a chance, try to rent one for a day or so and I think that you'll see the benefits over other fishing craft.
