now you know what to expect and how to counter it the next time. carp are most likely to get away when you think it is over. it is important to have "soft hands" in order to land the carp and keep the tippet from snapping. head shaking is their favorite weapon for escape
Neat story. Thanks. Jim
I'm either going to, coming from or thinking about fishing. Jim
schooner - I know the feeling. The thing I love most about carp, is that unlike bass, they won't head toward to closest brush pile but instead go to deep open water where all you have to do is be patient, hold on and enjoy the battle. But even then they can break you off by just overpowering your leader. I've often said that you could tie a piece of rope on the tails of a 5 pound bass and a 5 pound carp and the carp would drag that bass all over the lake at warp speed!
