Thread: Coffee grinder dubbing

    Default Coffee grinder dubbing

Does anyone else have trouble with static electricity and some irregular mixing when mixing dubbing with a coffee grinder?

What do you do about it?

Shot of static guard in the grinder.

    Works for me!

try duct taping a bare copper wire to the plastic cover of the grinder and attach the other end to your kitchen sink cold water handle if it is metal. years ago when i worked as a mechanic we used to attach rubber straps impregnated with metal filings from the frames of cars and let them drag on the ground to keep customers from getting shocks when getting out of their vehicles in the cold weather. question does this happen to you in the summer? if not this will probably cure your problem.

    good luck

    duckster,

Take a static towelette, the kind you place in the laundry dryer, and rub it inside and outside the grinder. Use short bursts when blending the dubbing.

No wonder I've been getting such a jolt from my coffee - it's that extra static!

Use a shot of the static gaurd or static off spray. Looks like a can of hair spray. Just a quick shot into the grinder will do it.

The best thing that happened to me with regard to avoiding Static in furs and synthetics. Was to hear of doing your blending in a pot of water instead of a coffee grinder.

Put the dubbing in a pot and add water. Whisk with a hand wisk then drain through a fine sieve or Cloth and allow to dry. Whisk again and There you go a good blend and almost no static. Have Fun. Jax

Does anyone worry about the aerosol anti static spray "flavoring" the dubbing?
