Pike and Bass near Minneapolis
I have fished a few lakes around Minnesota's metro area the past couple of weeks. Bass and Pike can be found in deeper waters; 8-12' in and around weed lines. Sink tip or full sinking lines are highly recommended. Smaller flies are working better than big ones. Crawfish patterns and Woolly Buggers in attractor colors, size 8 have been the ticket. My buddy even landed a decent muskie using this technique. A couple of bass have been caught in the shallows near heavy cover, but this is not as effective as deep water.
