    I got one of those in a tying kit I bought back in the mid 70's.

    The stamp says "Chase - Boston"
    Will try it out tonight. Is supposed to have some kinda cardboard shims from what I have read...

    with wooden spools it worked well, but when plastic spools came out, you had tighten spool that tight you striped the thread in the plastic bobbin. had to use card board washer toget tension on thread to tie right. flyman 3

    Not exactly, coming from a part of the country where popping bugs were about the only flies used and having not used a flyrod much for several year, I was 50 years old or older before I ever wrapped thread around a hook to produce fly.

    thru mine out about 15 years ago, the plastics threads finally stripped out
