Default Posthumous thanks to Al Campbell!

I took my wife to a local lake to fish for crappies today. As I have for several years, the first fly I tie on is a "Crappie Candy". I caught several crappie and a largemouth bass. I like to fish this fly because it makes me think of Al Campbell. I honed my tying skills thru his online tying series here on FAOL. Because I lived in SD at the time, I was also fortunate to meet him at the Rapid City Scheels store and tap into some of his knowledge of the Black Hills. Many thanks to Al!

It was through a Google search I found FAOL back in early 2002. I was searching for flytying and Al's series popped up. I truly enjoyed being able to chat with Al via the bb and PM. He was always more than happy to encourage and answer any question you had. I liked how he emphasized technique.

Excellent teacher and friend! Had many chats on the bulletin board with him and he shared freely!
